The Impact of the COVID-19 Vaccine on Home Healthcare

Our very own Prospero teammates spoke about the urgency of vaccinating people who are living with serious advanced illness.

“We must have a way to deliver the vaccine to the homebound persons that need it the most,” said Dr. Michael Bond, a Texas-based Associate Medical Director for Prospero Health. Many Texans, such as 91-year-old Doyce Dillon, have yet to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Prospero Health nurse practitioner, Jayson Hoppe, is careful to take proper precautions when conducting home visits with people in his care, like Doyce. “People aren’t getting the care that they need because they’re concerned about going to the doctor or having people come into the home and take care of them,” Hoppe said.

“I miss being able to give a patient a hug who needs one. That doesn’t happen every day, but there are times the patients need that.”
